BarterPalace.com is a completely free online barter matching system. It connects people who want to sell or barter locally up to 400 miles.

It is free because managers in the administrative group are not gold diggers. They want to serve their community. Still don't understand why it is free? Here is the straight forward answer: We want it to be free.

The idea of BarterPalace.com came from a LSU graduate student. He was a poor college kid just like any other one. Everyday, he walked to school and saw good items being discarded. Later that day, a friend of his said "Man, I am about to throw this couch away, I don't need this sh*t and it is taking up too much space, but I do want a faster computer, this grandpa age turtle is annoying." The poor college kid an extra computer at home and he wanted a couch. So, he gave his friend the extra computer and got the couch in return. After this trade, he realized lots of people had a need for this kind of service. With this thought in mind, he started planning for a project ---- BarterPalace.com.

With a BarterPalace.com account, you can buy and sell your items, and even barter items with other users. You can check user reviews and also contact other users regarding to a item they have available for sale.

No, BarterPalace.com doesn't handle any money transactions between buyers, sellers or barters. Because BarterPalace.com targets buyers, sellers and barters who are interested in doing trade business locally, it is the buyers and sellers' responsibilites to set a place and time to meet for trading. At this time, BarterPalace.com, under any circumstance, will not handle any money transaction for any buyers or users.

You have to have a BarterPalace.com account in order to contact a user. First, you need to login, and search for items you are interested in. If you find anything you like, go into the "Item View" page, you can contact the seller through that page.

BarterPalace.com also keeps track of your conversations with other users. You can go into your "Message" page to contact the users you have contacted previously.

BarterPalace.com treats our users' privacy very seriously. We will only disclose our users' user names for contact purpose.

First, you will need to sign up an account. It is completely free. Then you need to login to your account. On the left side of the website, you will see the user menu. Click on "Sell something" and fill in the fields. Once you click on "Submit", your ad is available for search.

Log into your account. Click on "My selling list" on the user menu. You will see the list of your ads there. Click on the "status" of the particular ad you want to change status, and you will see the magic.

Our search is very flexible. If you just want to see what is out there, do not fill in anything, just click on "Search" and you will see all the ads. We do suggest that you type in your zip code so that you will see the ads that is around your area.

Go to the search (selling list search or wish list search), and type in your zip code or your state, city, then choose the search radius mileage, click on "search". That is it.

Type your contact information, such as email address, at the end of your feedback message. The administrative group will answer your questions shortly.

Choose the category called "Business & Services" during your posting.

Please notice that the "first name" and "last name" fields are optional. It is for you to decide if you want to let us know your name. If you give us your name, we promise we will not disclose it to another body else. The only purpose for collecting your real name is our administrators might connect some of our users individually, and we would like use their real name rather than their user ID.

We do not collect birthdays. We only collect you birth month and birth year (and gender, too). we use the information to do data analysis to find out what items our users will most likely buy/sell/barter. When our database grow large enough, we will be able to suggest items to our users base on those information.
